What to expect

  • Before your session even begins, you will have already filled out your health intake AND breast/chest intake & consent form, which includes preliminary breast health related questions as well as your general health and multiple consent portions. These online consent pieces are to be signed and dated.

  • Once you arrive, your massage therapist will have more in-depth breast health questions and consent pieces to be filled out before getting on the table.

  • The purpose of massage therapy is for the intention of relaxation, educating, and healing only. Any intent otherwise and the session will immediately end.

  • Consent and communication are of the utmost importance. Consent will be asked in multiple ways, multiple times, this is to ensure trust, comfort, and safety for all involved. Your personal level concerning touch, draping, and comfort will be discussed so that your massage therapist can modify the session as needed. Draping laws and rules will be followed unless stated otherwise in your intake and consent forms. If at anytime during the session you feel uncomfortable, you are within your right to end the massage or choose to work on another problem area. Healthy communication in the form of questions, concerns, feedback, or comfort level comments are always welcome and encouraged.

  • Negative body talk is not allowed in my space; I believe that all bodies are good bodies and all bodies are in need of healing and massage. My space is a safe and judgement free zone.

  • Emotional release may occur during the massage. This is normal. The body can hold onto memories in the form of emotions. When tissue is being released and relieved during the natural techniques of massage therapy, emotions may also be released. Emotional release may look like but is not limited to: crying, screaming, fear based behaviors. Your massage therapist will talk you through some grounding techniques if needed to make you comfortable and feel safe.

  • The P.H.A.S.T. technique will be utilized, explained, and communicated during the process.

  • Upon request, you may receive a reference sheet on how to perform P.H.A.S.T. using self breast massage

  • It is heavily encouraged to drink plenty of water after the session as lymph fluid flow is improved by the massage

Who does it benefit?

  • expecting parents

  • nursing parents

  • trans community

  • post-surgery (medically necessary or cosmetic)

  • everyone with breast tissue

Breast health and education

Breast health is important to everyone, regardless of gender. Everyone has breast tissue. When we talk about breast health, we are able to stay educated, empowered, and informed. When it becomes more common practice, we are able to speak to medical professionals with more confidence and ease. It is the hope that as we discuss our breast health in regards to general health, it becomes less of a taboo subject. Massage can help unlock patterns in the body and for most, regardless of gender, breast massage may be the key.

In a session, you will learn about:

  • consent and informed decisions pertaining to health

  • when to consult a physician

  • early detection of abnormal tissue

  • the P.H.A.S.T. technique

  • bra/binder use

  • self breast massage

  • body awareness
